Welcome to the 30-Day Journey Exploring the Art of Awareness !
We are glad you joined us on this journey toward better health and well-being. As Black women, we face unique stressors that significantly impact our health, leading to higher rates of heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, and anxiety. This challenge is designed to help us become more aware of these stressors and provide tools to manage them through mindfulness and self-compassion.

Over the next 30 days, we will explore our five senses in six-day blocks: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. Each day, you'll work on an impactful activity focused on one of the senses, starting with one minute of breath awareness followed by four minutes of sensory exploration. Our mission is to guide you in befriending yourself, understanding the power of self-compassion, and harnessing your inner strength to face racism, misogyny, and other oppressive systems.

Fully commit to the 30 days—each day is only 5 minutes: 1 minute of breathing and 4 minutes of the awareness activity. Four minutes is longer than you may think, so set a timer to fully focus without checking the time. When your mind wanders, gently guide it back to the activity. After each session, notice how you feel in your body and see if there is a connection with your emotions and thoughts. The goal is to increase your mind, body, and emotional awareness. This is the foundational intersection of stress awareness and where change occurs.

Remember, we can't change what we aren't aware of. By intentionally connecting to our senses, we can disrupt the cycle of chronic stress and promote a sense of calm and inner strength.

We encourage you to go outside most days to connect with nature. Try to do each activity at the same time every day to build consistent practice.
